As many others have said, the staff at this hotel are fantastic: friendly, charming, helpful, and always remembered my name. The hotel itself is a delight - cutely folded towels, quirky wooden furniture, rolled up mosquito netting above the bed (purely decorative - not actually needed) fun details (like the mickey mouse trashcan in the bathroom), yet all clean, comfortable, and functional. Location: on the edge of the old town, though unfortunately it is the edge opposite the very best restaurants (Cargo Club, Mango room). You\'ll be in the old town after a gentle 10 minute walk, but budget 20 to get to the Japanese bridge near the better restaurants. The hotel is far from the beach, but the old town is easily the main attraction (and where you\'d want to be at night - the beach has no nightlife to speak of): the hotel will cheaply rent you a bike to get to the beach. Another distinguishing feature is the tour packages offered by the hotel, which are actually worthwhile (and highly rated by tripadvisor), not just the usual blah stuff. Fellow guests were also great. There\'s a pool for midday cooling off. No locker in my room, but a wooden cupboard that locked - in any case, I had no problems, and the desk safeguarded my passport. Fast wireless internet. No free water, which is a bit weird, but the price per bottle was very low. The aircon was kept on in my room during the day, which is a huge plus: other hotels switched theirs off, and you returned to an oven at night.
